The development will involve the construction of a 13-turbine wind farm. Approximately 2.2km of new access roads will be required in addition to the upgrading of 2.5km of existing roads. All roads will be c. 4.5m wide. A level hard-standing area with minimum dimensions of 35m by 22m will be created adjacent to each turbine. The turbine foundations will be excavated to a depth of c. 2m. In addition, a substation and a temporary contractor’s compound will be constructed. Excavation was through peat, varying in depth from c. 1m to 2m, sealing geologically deposited strata. Monitoring is ongoing at the time of writing. No archaeological features or artefacts have been revealed as a result of monitoring to date.
