Testing was carried out at the site of a proposed housing development at Faughart Lower, Co. Louth, on 16–18 December 2009. The testing followed a pre-planning desktop report which included the results of a geophysical survey across the proposed development area undertaken by J.M Leigh Surveys (licence 09R0199). A total of thirteen trenches (695 linear metres) were mechanically excavated across the area. The trenches were placed in order to investigate the anomalies identified in the geophysical survey. No features or finds of archaeological interest were identified as a result of the testing.
