A programme of testing was undertaken on 14, 19 and 20 January 2009 at Ballinalee, Co. Longford, prior to the proposed five villages waste water sewerage scheme. A total of thirteen trenches were mechanically investigated across three test areas. These included the site of the proposed wastewater-treatment plant located in heavily waterlogged terrain with thick rushes on the southern banks of the River Camlin. Two areas of pipeline were investigated located in proximity to LF009–02302, the post-medieval Bully’s Acre graveyard, and LF009–02301, the medieval St John’s Church and graveyard. Nothing of archaeological significance was uncovered during the programme of testing.
