Monitoring of groundworks was carried out during the refurbishment and extension to a dwelling listed in the National Inventory of Architectural Heritage as a building of cultural and architectural heritage (NIAH No. 21507005). This was in response to planning conditions set by the local authority. During the monitoring the spoil generated was spread outside the stripped area and inspected for archaeological material. This was to comply with conditions as set out by the National Museum of Ireland in order to assess the archaeological bearing potential of the spoil. Nothing of an archaeological nature was observed during the monitoring or within the spoil generated.
