Monitoring of groundworks during the Leitrim towns and villages sewerage scheme began on 2 March 2009 and is continuing on an intermittent basis. The proposed development consists of the construction of treatment plants at the following ten towns and villages in County Leitrim: Ballinagleragh, Cloone, Dromahaire, Drumcong, Drumkeeran, Jamestown, Killarga, Kiltyclogher, Kinlough and Roosky. Monitoring of groundworks was also carried out at a pumping station for Jamestown. The monitoring was a recommendation of an initial assessment of the scheme carried out by IAC Ltd in 2005. None of the ten treatment plants have any archaeological monuments located within or in the immediate vicinity of the proposed developments.
Nine of the ten sites have been completed, with only Roosky treatment plant remaining. Nothing of archaeological significance has as yet been uncovered.
