An impact assessment was requested as further information as part of the planning process for an individual dwelling at Brockra, Ballyfin, as the proposed development site was partially located within the zone of archaeological potential for an enclosure and children’s burial-ground (LA012–005 and LA012–00501). These monuments are located 40–50m to the east-north-east and are in no danger physically or visually from proposed works.
Five test-trenches were excavated across the footprint of the proposed development. They ranged from 20m to 40m long by 2m wide and were 0.3–0.5m deep. No potential archaeological features or artefacts were recorded.
