Testing was carried out during February 2009 along a section of proposed pipeline that will form part of the Kildare Water Strategy. The pipeline route was tested for 110m as it passes (within the existing roadway) through the constraint of KD032–017 (enclosure). Based on the original desktop assessment, testing was recommended in respect of this section of pipeline. However, during the course of the testing programme, it was discovered that the location of KD032–017 was incorrectly identified. The site was further east than depicted in the assessment and so further away from the proposed pipeline route. This means that the proposed pipeline does not actually cross through the constraint area of KD032–017. The site incorrectly identified as KD032–017, where test-trenching was carried out, was in fact an old quarry site adjacent to the N78 that had subsequently been used as a landfill.
