A programme of testing geotechnical trial-pits and slit-trenches, in advance of development of the Upper Valley Regional Sewerage Scheme – Extension to Osberstown WWTP – Stage 3, includes improvements to the wastewater collection network in various areas throughout County Kildare. A total of 35 trial-pits were monitored. A number of test-pits could not be excavated due to cancellation or problems with access or landowners. The location of the trial-pits was within three principal catchments, all of which are in Kildare: Prosperous, Clane and Sallins; Kill, Johnstown and Naas; Newbridge, Athgarvan and the Curragh.
No archaeological features were identified and no new areas of archaeological potential were identified.
