An impact assessment was required as further information in a planning application for an individual dwelling at Gleann Fán, Ceann Trá, Tralee, as the proposed development site was partially located within the zone of archaeological potential for clocháin, KE052–185. Pre-development testing was undertaken as part of the assessment.

No trace of the clochán survives aboveground and records show that 'it was rebuilt as a pigsty’. The Dingle Peninsula Archaeological Survey (J. Cuppage et al., Ballyferriter, 1986) published the site in the 'Destroyed or Unlocated Hut Sites’ chapter. The area is, however, rich in archaeological monuments of the early medieval period, with a particular concentration of clocháin.

Three test-trenches were excavated at intervals of 10m. They were from 20m to 25m long, 1m wide and 0.2–0.5m deep. No potential archaeological features or artefacts were recorded.
