Pre-development testing was carried out as part of an archaeological impact assessment requested as further information due to the scale of the development at Doory, Portmagee. No known archaeological monuments were located on or adjacent to the site. The early medieval monastery on the island of Illaunloughan is visible in the Portmagee Channel c. 0.5km north-west. Seven test-trenches were excavated across three small fields immediately south of the Portmagee Channel. No potential archaeological features or artefacts were recorded.
