Testing was carried out in the vicinity of KE004–013 on 10 June 2009 in response to a request for further information regarding a site adjacent to the monument. During testing, an outer fosse (up to 6m in width) directly associated with the rath was uncovered at a depth of less then 0.5m below ground level. All archaeological remains were left in situ. No artefacts were recovered. The testing was carried out to determine the exact extent of the outer edge of the monument. Also found were three modern stoned-filled field drains. One of these drains may have truncated the east–west.
