A series of twelve test excavation trenches, 1.8m in width and 10m apart, were opened across a proposed development situated near the southern bank of the River Lee at the south-east limits of the urban boundary of Tralee at Camp, Ballyseedy. Without exception, the results of the twelve test-trenches demonstrated that the entire proposed development site was comprised of modern introduced fill material, up to at least 1.7m in depth, consistent with use as a landfill site. Nothing of an archaeological nature was discovered.
