Test excavations were undertaken at a proposed development site in the village of Ballylongford, Co. Kerry, within and adjacent to a farmyard complex. A total of eight test-trenches were excavated. A modern field boundary ditch was recorded in Trenches 1, 3 and 5 while modern refuse pits were encountered in Trenches 6 and 8. Nothing of archaeological significance was encountered during testing. The total length of trenching was 453m. The topsoil, which was on average 0.35m in depth in the trenches, was a dark-brown silty loam while the subsoil was a mid-brownish/orange silty clay.
