Pre-development testing was undertaken prior to an extension to the ground-floor level of a building at No. 3 Bridge Street, Galway. The testing was undertaken in February 2009 and involved the excavation of a single 4m-long trench at the south end of the extension. The excavations revealed a stone and mortar surface at a depth of 0.75m. Above this was a mixed fill with occasional brick and two clay-pipe fragments. No further excavation was undertaken as development works were not extending below this level.
