Testing was carried out in advance of the construction of a single-storey extension to the side (west) of a previously approved extension to the front (south) of Ballybroder house. An assessment and test-trenching were carried out for the previous extension in January 2009 (Excavations 2008, No. 513, 08E1014). This proposed development is situated within the zone of archaeological potential for a tower-house (GA106–012) and is adjacent to the zone of archaeological potential for an unclassified earthwork (GA106–014). Three trenches were opened on the footprint of the proposed extension. Nothing of an archaeological nature was uncovered during this phase of test-trenching.
