The site is located on a subrectangular piece of ground situated on the east side of The Green in Lisnarick. It measures c. 58m west-north-west to eastsouth-east by 34m at its widest point. The proposed development concerns the demolition and reconstruction of the Orange Hall in Lisnarick as well as associated car-parking facilities.
While there are no archaeological sites within the boundaries of the proposed development, there are a number of raths in the vicinity, FER173–014–017, 031 and 086. The settlement of Lisnarick (FER173–096) itself dates to the 17th century and the Plantation period and the area has been defined by the NIEA as an area of historical and archaeological importance.
Test-trenching was undertaken on 3 June 2009. Besides modern disturbance, the archaeological monitoring of topsoil removal uncovered no archaeological deposits.
