Monitoring was carried out on the excavation of an area set aside as a foundation for a new electricity compound in June 2009 on behalf of ESBI. The excavation work was carried out by Bowen Ltd, building contractors. The site was situated in what was the Mountain View pitch and putt course in Stepaside. A haul road and excavation trench for placing the 220kV cable underground was previously monitored by the author on behalf of Park Development Ltd, who were contracted to carry out these works. The excavated area measured 18m by 27m, largely comprising the removal of topsoil only. There were no archaeological features noted on the site.
