The aim of this test excavation was to assess the potential impacts of a proposed redevelopment of St Assam’s Church, Raheny. The church is a relatively modern structure (1859), but is situated near the older St Assam’s Church and within its area of archaeological potential.
Testing comprised two mechanically excavated test-trenches. No archaeological features were revealed but soil layers apparently undisturbed in modern times and containing butchered animal bone were encountered.
