Testing was carried out prior to the demolition of the modern print works which occupy a large part of the site. A total of four trenches were mechanically excavated across the site. A post-medieval (18th/19thcentury) garden soil was uncovered on the northern end of the site, in the garden area of the structures that previously occupied this part of the site, but no further archaeological features or intact deposits were identified in the test-trenches. The testing results demonstrate that previous construction works and the insertion of associated services had caused much disturbance to the areas of the site where the trenches were excavated. However, the potential remains that archaeological material may exist outside the location of the test-trenches and monitoring of ground-breaking works may be required.
