Monitoring was conducted of works associated with the removal of the tarmacadam carpark (c. 50m by 50m) and reinstatement of the lawn. The maximum depth of excavation was 0.12m and it was only at the northern and eastern perimeters that the underlying ground was exposed. Here a strip of post-medieval garden soil c. 0.35m wide was exposed. A subrectangular area (c. 2m by 4m) delimited by modern kerbing was partially uncovered at the northern edge of the lawn area. No other traces of archaeological soils or features were uncovered during monitoring.
