Monitoring was carried out on a development site at 23 Martins Row, Chapelizod, Co. Dublin. The client was granted permission to construct a two-storey detached three-bedroom dwelling with vehicular and pedestrian access from Park Lane, with an associated landscaped area, boundary, treatment and all associated site-development works. The development site is located within the zone of archaeological potential for the medieval village of Chapelizod (DU018–027).
Nine pits, from c. 2.56m² to 4m² in size, were excavated for the main construction for the new building. The pits were arranged in three rows with three pits in each row. No archaeological features were identified during monitoring.
