Monitoring was carried out on a development site at 23 Martins Row, Chapelizod, Co. Dublin. The client was granted permission to construct a two-storey detached three-bedroom dwelling with vehicular and pedestrian access from Park Lane, with an associated landscaped area, boundary, treatment and all associated site-development works. The development site is located within the zone of archaeological potential for the medieval village of Chapelizod (DU018–027).
Nine pits, from c. 2.56m• to 4m• in size, were excavated for the main construction for the new building. The pits were arranged in three rows with three pits in each row. No archaeological features were identified during monitoring.
