An assessment was carried out on behalf of the National Roads Authority in advance of the construction of a service area adjacent to and serving the M1 motorway, Lusk, Co. Dublin, between 12 January and 23 September 2009. A total of seven fields were tested and a total of 68 test-trenches were excavated with a combined length of 9479m. It was obvious from the depth of the overlying mid-brown clay and sod that the majority of Field 2 had been significantly disturbed during the construction of the nearby motorway. No archaeological features or deposits were identified or exposed and no finds were recovered.
