An assessment was carried out in advance of the construction of the M1 South motorway service area (West), Lusk, Co. Dublin on behalf of the National Roads Authority between 26 January and 23 March 2009. The assessment involved the mechanical excavation of 85 test-trenches with a combined total length of 8765m. Four fields were tested and only one archaeological site containing two circular ring-ditches was exposed. This site was subsequently designated as Baldrumman 1 and excavated by Ian Russell in May and June 2009 (see No. 282, Excavations 2009; A050, E4030.)
