A planning application to construct a care facility off Main Street, Clough, required testing, as the site was located less than 100m to the south of the state care motte and bailey/tower-house complex of Clough Castle (DOW037–060).

The two parallel test-trenches measured 30m x 2m. The only features uncovered, including a path and wall foundations, related to a 19th-century formal garden which had occupied the site; artifacts consisted of ceramics from the same period.
