It is proposed to extend a sand and gravel extraction site at lands 130m south-west of 27 Ballynahatten Road, Kilkeel, for J. Patterson and Sons Ltd. Monitoring of the removal of topsoil in the proposed development area suggests that the area had been disturbed by the construction of the Greencastle Aerodrome, with one surviving fragment of a runway being found in the field. No archaeological features were identified within the development area.
