Newbuildings Historical Society proposed to conduct an investigation of a number of archaeological features within Kittybane townland. Following a GPR survey of the site, a series of test-trenches were excavated. These revealed the further remains of a large enclosure previously identified in a 2005 excavation at the site. The test-trenches also revealed the remains of a souterrain, LDY022–012. Investigation of the souterrain found that it was constructed from drystone walling roofed with large, flat lintels. While the walling appears to be structurally sound, the roof is very much less so and two areas of collapse were noted within the souterrain chamber.
