The site is located adjacent to No. 31 Glen Road, Garvagh, in Co. Derry and consists of an L-shaped piece of land measuring c. 90m north-north-west/southsouth-east by 75m at its widest point. The proposed development concerns the construction of five houses.
There are seven archaeological sites within a 1km radius of the proposed development. While none are located within the boundaries of the development, an enclosure, LDY026–047, lies only 60m from the boundaries of the proposed development site.
Prior to testing, three of the five dwellings had already been constructed along with an access road and street lighting. Five test-trenches were excavated across the remaining extent of the proposed development. Monitoring of the test-trenches noted only a small number of field drains, with no deposits of archaeological potential being uncovered. It was also noted that ground disturbance had taken place in the form of modern drainage as evidenced+ by the
manhole covers visible across the site. No archaeological deposits were uncovered.
