In January 2009 monitoring was undertaken at lands adjacent to No. 2 Betts Road in Drumsurn, Limavady. The proposed development measured c. 31m east–west by 34m and concerned the construction of a single dwelling There are fifteen archaeological sites within a 2km radius of the proposed development. Two of these lie+close to the proposed development, an enclosure c. 200m due west and a megalithic tomb c. 210m south-east. While there are no known sites within the boundaries of the proposed development, this site lies however within an area NIEA: Built Heritage has highlighted to be of archaeological potential.
Monitoring of topsoil removal noted a number of agricultural features – furrows and a field drain. No deposits of archaeological potential were uncovered.
