A total of 58 test-trenches were mechanically excavated across the site on which it is proposed to develop two 18-hole golf-courses and associated facilities. A geophysical survey had been carried out on the available portions of the development site and did not reveal obvious features of archaeological potential. It was significantly compromised by the nature of the underlying geology. The ploughed-out remains of the two fulachta fiadh (CO086–029 and CO086–030) were identified during testing as well as three more levelled fulachta fiadh. The levelled remains of one of the possible ringforts (CO086–028) were revealed and a number of features of archaeological potential were identified in the vicinity of the other ringfort (CO086–031), however the ringfort itself was not identified. Within a number of the test-trenches small features of archaeological potential were identified which require further investigation should development proceed.
