Following geophysical survey (08R314), test-trenching prior to a proposed graveyard extension adjacent to Doora Church located a 3–4m-wide and c. 1.2m-deep ditch enclosing the church. Pits, gullies and other archaeological features were found outside the ditch. It is very likely that these deposits represent an early medieval monastic enclosure and associated activity. Animal bone from the base of the ditch was not in a suitable condition for radiocarbon-dating.
