Underwater assessment Moore Marine Services was commissioned by FarrimondMacManus Ltd to undertake an underwater assessment of 800m of shoreline and seabed from Olderfleet Bay in the Port of Larne. Reclamation work in this general area has been ongoing since the 1940s and, to date, a large tract of the original bay has been reclaimed. The extent of this existing reclamation is visible in the rock armour revetment which bounds the proposed works to the west.

The diver survey recorded that there were two distinct underwater seabed types noted. It recorded a large number of individual metallic contacts. It did not record the presence of any significant concentration of metals that could be indicative of the presence of a singular large buried feature. It appears that all the unidentified metallic contacts were probably related to mooring activities and were not of archaeological significance.
