It is proposed to insert a new storm sewer and holding tank at Joymount, Carrickfergus. During the monitoring of the groundworks for this project a limited amount of archaeology was uncovered during the insertion of the new storm sewer, including a pit in the side of the holding tank excavation and an earlier stone-walled channel. No datable artefacts were retrieved from the pit or from the stone wall, but it is highly probable that the latter dates from the 19th/early 20th century, as the Sullatober Water was most likely channelled during the construction of the nearby railway embankment and due to the close proximity of IHR 5636, a cornmill and flax-spinning site. Aside from these features, nothing of archaeological significance was found during this project.
