An assessment was carried out at the site of a proposed retirement home at Bonamargy townland, Ballycastle, Co. Antrim. The site is adjacent to Bonamargy Friary (ANT009–003), a scheduled 16thcentury monastery in state care. The site is positioned on flat pastureland with clear views of Bonamargy Friary c. 200m to the west.
Three test-trenches were excavated across the site with a combined length of 200m. These were mechanically excavated to subsoil at locations agreed with the Northern Ireland Environment Agency. No archaeological finds or features were identified during this assessment.
