Pre-development test-trenching was carried out at a proposed extension to a United Dairy Farmers facility at Pennybridge Industrial Estate, Ballymena, Co. Antrim. While testing proved that the greater portion of the site appears to be sterile of archaeological material, an area of archaeological potential measuring 20m by 10m is located within the south-east portion of the development area in the form of a gully and several post-holes. The gully is similar in form to what would commonly be identified as a bedding trench for a house structure, while the identification of post-holes further suggests a structural function for this activity. The recovery of prehistoric pottery from the terminal of the feature indicates the antiquity of the archaeological remains uncovered.
