NI Water proposes to construct a gravity sewer from The Diamond, Ballycastle, to the Tow River. NI Water requested an archaeological presence during topsoil removal to ensure that no material of archaeological significance is disturbed. The monitoring identified a well, and two stone walls, one of which appears to pre-date the 1740 construction of the adjacent Holy Trinity Church. Due to difficulties arising from health and safety and given the limited extent of the features uncovered, further analysis of the archaeological remains was not possible, however their location has been recorded and will provide useful background information for any future development works in this area.
