The proposed development comprises an extension to the graveyard, relocate septic tank and connect sewage system from church and parochial hall to an existing treatment system at national school. The main area of development is to be located on a greenfield site at the southern side of Donaghmore church. Donaghmore is an historic town associated with an Episcopal manor in the 13th century. There are now no standing remains of the church or any part of the early town.
Six test-trenches were excavated across the proposed extension to the graveyard and five test-pits were excavated along the route of the new sewage line with a 1m-wide toothless bucket. Nothing of archaeological significance was recorded during the testing.
