An excavation was carried out prior to the construction of a house at Ballyconnell, Busherstown. The proposed development was located within the zone of archaeological potential of an enclosure site, WI037–009. The excavation uncovered the remains of two parallel ditches (width 1.2m and 2.1m, depth 0.65m and 0.75m) aligned east–west and filled with a gradual build-up of silts, sands and clays. Apart from two sections excavated, the remainder was left in situ. Traces of thirteen evenly spaced plough furrows were found 16m further to the north. No artefacts or datable material was recovered from any of the features.
