The site of the proposed development contains WI019–055, a habitation site, and WI019–043, a deserted settlement, both of which encroach on the western side of the proposed development. A geophysical survey by Target Archaeological Geophysics (TAG) identified a number of potential anomalies that were investigated by test-trenching. A total of 30 trenches were excavated across four fields. No archaeological finds or features were recorded in these test-trenches. The anomalies noted during the TAG survey were caused by variations in the underlying geology and not through human activity. The combined findings of the geophysical survey and the current archaeological assessment suggest that extensive archaeological remains were not present within the proposed development.
