Underwater visual assessment, intertidal foreshore inspection and a metal-detection survey took place in advance of the building of an offshore breakwater at Kilpatrick sandhills, to the south of Kilmichael Point in Co. Wexford. The details arising from the present survey indicate that sandhills contain a medieval settlement and the beach would have been a landing place for that settlement. No features of archaeological significance were uncovered during the survey though the sand below the high water mark is a good holding ground for artefacts and there remains the possibility of buried material. The grave-cut of a dog was recorded during the survey but is beyond the area affected by the survey and is of low archaeological potential.
