Contract 4 of the Waterford main drainage scheme was situated on the eastern edge of Waterford city on the north side of the River Suir. Monitoring of all subsurface works on the scheme was completed in September 2008, on behalf of Waterford City Council. The monitored groundworks for Contract 4 consisted of c. 3.5km of trenching for pipe-laying and the foundations for three pumping stations. Nothing of archaeological significance was revealed during the course of monitoring.
