Testing and monitoring was carried out in order to meet conditions attached to planning permission sought to redivide an existing amalgamated house into two houses with extensions and ancillary siteworks at 31 New Street, Lismore, Co. Waterford. The site is located partly within the zone of archaeological potential of Lismore town (WA021–019).
Testing was undertaken directly over the footprint of the proposed building and garden area. This comprised an open area of topsoil-stripping down to the natural, unmodified subsoil across two areas. There were no finds or features identified on this site. Topsoil was relatively deep across the site and showed signs of significant improvement as a result of back-garden cultivation.
