Pre-development testing was carried out in March 2008 at a proposed development site in Garryduff, Colligan, Co. Waterford. The proposed development entailed the demolition of a derelict cottage and the construction of a single-storey dwelling house, entrance and driveway with domestic effluent treatment. WA022–033, a rectangular enclosure site, was located c. 50m west of the house site. Seven test-trenches were opened across the proposed development site using a JCB with a toothless grading bucket. Topsoil ranged from 0.14m to 0.4m in depth and was a greyish-brown silty sand. The natural subsoil was light-brown fine sand containing frequent stones. No finds, features or deposits of archaeological significance were uncovered. Areas with existing cottages and sheds were excluded from testing, therefore post-demolition monitoring was recommended. Monitoring took place in August 2008, with nothing of archaeological significance uncovered.
