Testing was carried out as part of the Dungarvan flood water relief scheme, which involved the construction of a pipeline through the northern parts of Dungarvan town. Testing was undertaken at three locations of archaeological potential. One trench was opened within the existing roadway to the south, but just outside of the constraint surrounding a church (WA031–043). One trench was opened on the bank of the River Corrigan. A total of seven trenches were opened within the site of the proposed detention pond at Duckspool. Nothing of archaeological significance was identified in any of the test-trenches. Site investigations were also undertaken along the route of the proposed pipeline and these were subject to monitoring. However, nothing of archaeological significance was discovered.
