Two small test-trenches were cut by hand through a yard behind Church Street, Dungarvan, to assess the archaeological impact of a proposed extension. Late 18th- or 19th-century masonry and building debris extended to at least 0.6m below present ground level and overlay garden soil with midden. No fragments of medieval/early post-medieval structures were found in the small areas opened (to a depth of c. 0.7m).
