An impact assessment was conducted on 3 September 2008 in advance of a proposed residential dwelling. The site was situated within the western periphery of the urban medieval zone of Terryglass. The site was rectangular in plan orientated south-west/north-east measuring c. 3600m2. There was no surface indication of heritage deposits or structures. Discussion with the owner of the site established that the interior has been extensively altered within the last 20 to 40 years – firstly in the burying of cars and secondly in the excavation of multiple soakaway pits (to mitigate previous significant surface flooding). Five test-trenches were excavated and demonstrated that the site was uniformly sterile archaeologically.
