Non-disturbance underwater visual assessment and metal-detection survey took place in advance of the building of berthing areas for a marina on a south-facing promontory of land between the Garavogue River and Lough Gill, Co. Sligo. Copper-alloy artefacts and a dugout canoe have been recovered from the wider area previously, indicating activity in the vicinity from the Bronze Age. The particular survey area contains an 18th-century quay wall associated with the manor house. Quayside and berth features are also related to the late 19th- to early 20th-century house. A concrete wall, iron jetty and concrete slipway, are associated with a 20th-century factory. The underwater environment revealed many objects including car parts, butchered bone, pottery and glass dating from the 19th century to the present.
