Testing and monitoring was carried out on the Teesan sewerage scheme on the northern outskirts of Sligo town. An initial assessment of the scheme was undertaken in November 2001. A second report was undertaken in 2006 as changes to the proposed pipeline route were proposed. Following submission of the relevant reports, the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government recommended testing. This work commenced at the end of May 2008. Testing was undertaken in the townland of Shannon Eighter where the pipeline was in close proximity to an enclosure site (SL014–064). Monitoring of pipeline excavations in the townlands of Shannon Eighter, Shannon Oughter, Teesan, Lisnalurg, Carncash and Rathbraghan were also undertaken. No features or artefacts of archaeological significance were encountered in the course of testing and subsequent monitoring.
