Excavation took place at a site at the rear of Castle Street accessed from Lanesborough Road in the town centre. Castle Street was situated on slightly elevated ground that sloped off to the north-west and the south-east. Work at Ballypheasan led to the identification of post-medieval domestic waste. The domestic refuse contained broken tin-glazed pottery, metal and glass.
