Monitoring of topsoil removal at the site of a proposed quarry was carried out over a three-day period in November 2008. The site is in the vicinity of an earthwork and an enclosure. Phase 1 of the development is concentrated within the western extent, incorporating one of the gravel ridges, a compound area and a haul road. The topsoil consisted of sandy clay, averaging 0.08m in depth. This came down onto grey gravel and orange/brown sand. No archaeological features, finds or deposits were uncovered during monitoring.
