The development site is located on the south-east side of Tullamore, along the Tullamore–Portarlington road. There was permission for the construction of 233 houses and 88 apartments on this 28-acre greenfield site. Due to the extent of the development and the site containing OF017–009, all ground-disturbance works required monitoring. Between September 2005 and June 2007 all groundworks associated with the development were monitored in a series of phases relating to the construction programme. All groundworks requiring monitoring were completed in June 2007 and no features or soils of archaeological significance were encountered during the removal of topsoil associated with this development.
